The sensitivity to pain is reduced

“This was the first time I did not feel any pain in many years.” Comments of this kind are common in connection with meditation in our courses.

That mindfulness can help with pain is also documented through a variety of research reports. That effect does not mean that pain disappears completely. It is rather the case that the experience of pain changes in a way that causes it to stop dominating life in the same way as before. Thus, the stress associated with constant pain can also be reduced.
